Style Treasure: The Elephant Parade Skirt

‘Wardrobe staples’ are one thing but a treasured piece of clothing is something much more. To me it is a piece that puts a smile on my face, is versatile and perhaps attracts a few compliments. (why not, right?)

Here is me pulling out this old favourite for Fall 2016.

This Elephant Parade skirt, I bought fromJ.Crew months ago. It was a piece I mulled over on the website, tried on in the stores & dreamt of wearing in different ways. I finally bought it when it was 30% off with the fear it might go out of stock. I have worn it for various occasions ever since, and it has carried me from spring/summer way into fall/winter. It is such a unique piece, right length, sort of faux wrap style, black with a bold gold elephant print, classy, with a sort of fun twist. Here it is styled, simply with all black for work or an autumn night out.

Let me know what you guys think!

The skirt is a few seasons old and not available anymore but so many similar pieces are, so you can pick the colour and print that strikes a chord with you.

On a new note, I have recently been attempting to buy right & wear more, I have been searching the closet for things I love and can wear in numerous different ways and downsizing the not so worn things. Been inspired by Caroline who writes the blog Un-fancy and my fav British blogger Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup to create a capsule wardrobe of few but awesome pieces that you wear loads; all in an attempt to save money and time and use the same to do something more meaningful. I’m not quite there on the capsule wardrobe yet – straddling somewhere in between, but the conscious consumption bug has definitely bitten me.

So baby steps…to searching for the pieces with promise and using them to define my own style niche!
